What this product or service is

Submitting of data files is an online service that supports business or organisations selected to participate in selected surveys. 

This service enables businesses and organizations, chosen to take part in a survey and with specific arrangements, to submit data files or statistical records, instead of completing a survey form. 

Features you will find

Many businesses or organisations who provide us with administrative data (e.g. construction or births data) choose to do so online through our File Transfer Portal. This is a quick and easy way to securely provide data. You will be able to:

  • set up and maintain your ABS survey accounts
  • access your form(s) using your unique Form Access Code
  • start or resume your data submission through the Informatica File Transfer Portal
  • select and submit your data file(s)
  • delete a file uploaded in the last 5 minutes 
  • obtain a submission receipt for your upload

ABS Secure Deposit Box

The Secure Deposit Box provides a mechanism for survey or admin data providers to lodge their data to the relevant Subject Matter Area via the internet using ABS portal (www6.abs.gov.au). You will be able to:

  • access the secure deposit box using your unique username and password
  • attach and lodge your data file(s)
  • obtain a receipt number acknowledging lodgement  

Who the service is for

Businesses and organisations who have been selected to participate in a survey, with special arrangements to upload data files.

Accessing this service

If your organisation has been selected to provide us with data in this way, you should have received written instructions on how to access the File Transfer Portal, and securely submit your data.

To submit your data file, you will need to:

  • create and log in to your ABS survey account
  • provide contact details for your data files
  • prepare and properly name your files 
  • upload your files to the Informatica File Transfer Portal

To securely mange your accounts we utilise a product called XIAM.

Your data files submission utilises the Informatica File Transfer Portal to securely submit data files.

To access the ABS secure deposit box via the internet, open your web browser program and go to the internet address (URL): https://www6.abs.gov.au/.

The information you provide using ABS Survey Account is kept secure through the use of the strongest industry standard encryption technology that your web browser will support, and at no time will identifiable data be disclosed unless: 

  • you have consented;
  • you would reasonably expect, or have been told, that we usually disclose information of this kind; or
  • the disclosure is otherwise required or authorised by law.
