About ABSBeta and the new ABS website

About ABSBeta

ABSBeta is where we are testing new ways of making our digital information and services easier to find, understand and use.

Current proposals have been designed to help us improve the experience with our digital content.

This includes:

  • Providing definitions for lesser-known terms
  • Having interactive graphs and tables
  • Having an easy to understand summary of the methodology
  • Providing views of leading topic indicators (for example Health or Labour)

You can help us improve our website experience by trying and providing feedback on our latest concepts available through the ABSBeta home page.

About the ABS website

What’s changing?

Following the successful launch of the ABS website in September 2020 we have continued to implement improvements across the website. We plan to use the ABSBeta to assist users to prepare for future releases with substantial change including:

  • Mock demonstration of what releases will look like with new functionality
  • Examples of new URL structures

What’s not changing?

  • Time series identifiers and file names won’t change
  • Other ABS dissemination products won’t change (TableBuilder, DataLab)
  • abs.gov.au will stay your official source of statistics
